This comparison is written by DeepGyre, so read it with that in mind. To make it useful anyway, we follow three rules:
Short version: Nansen is the more established platform, with far deeper wallet labels and multi-chain profit-based Smart Money. DeepGyre is newer and smaller, but cheaper at the entry tier, publishes its full methodology, and tests whether a token can actually be sold.

Nansen: a Free plan, and Pro at $69/month billed monthly or $49/month billed annually (as of October 2026).
Verdict: DeepGyre on list price.
Nansen describes its platform as built on 500M+ labeled addresses. This is its core strength and the main reason many teams use it.
DeepGyre holds about 40.8 million labelled addresses (about 956,000 curated) and about 2,500 verified entity address claims. These come from exchanges' own proof-of-reserves disclosures, curated research and wallet tracing. Each claim records how it was established, and inferred attributions carry a lower confidence than curated ones. When two sources disagree about who owns a wallet, the conflict is published rather than silently resolved.
Verdict: Nansen, clearly, on depth. DeepGyre's advantage is that it tells you how each label was established.
Nansen labels wallets by trading performance, such as profitable traders and funds.
DeepGyre has two Ethereum rankings. Smart Money by Profit measures realized and unrealized PnL, win rate and worst trade from each wallet's own swaps, priced at the wallet's own fill; exits it cannot price are counted, never estimated, and bot-paced wallets are excluded. The second ranks wallets by how early they received tokens that later became widely held. Members must have signed a transaction themselves, which keeps bots and router contracts off both lists.
Verdict: Nansen for profit cohorts across many chains and years. DeepGyre for a profit ranking whose every number shows how it was measured, plus an earliness ranking Nansen does not offer.
DeepGyre's token scanner checks contract permissions, taxes and ownership. On Ethereum, BNB Chain and Base it then simulates a buy and, a few blocks later, a sell against the token's own pool. It reports:
Nothing is signed or sent. When the simulation and the reference check disagree, both answers are shown. When no sell could be tested, the report says "Sell not verified".
Nansen is not primarily a token-safety tool.
Verdict: DeepGyre.
DeepGyre's methodology publishes sixteen rules, each with the measured cost of breaking it. A few examples:
Each metric in the library states what it measures, how it is built and how to read it. For example, our MVRV page explains exactly where our construction can differ from other providers'.
Verdict: DeepGyre. This is the main reason it exists.
DeepGyre's token scanner registry covers 45 chains, each admitted only after its endpoints were verified to answer as that chain. Nansen lists 21 chains in its Profiler and 37 networks in its API, with coverage varying by feature.
Verdict: it depends on the feature. Compare per feature rather than by headline count, ours included: the buy/sell simulation, for example, runs on three chains, not 45.
DeepGyre includes Bitcoin on-chain metrics (MVRV, SOPR, NUPL, realized price, supply in loss, whale bands), exchange reserves, derivatives and order flow, token unlocks, stablecoin flows and a global macro section.
Verdict: DeepGyre for breadth of market metrics in one subscription. Nansen's focus is wallet and token flows.
Nansen has operated for years and has a large research team. DeepGyre launched in September 2026 and builds in public: its changelog and roadmap are published.
Verdict: Nansen.
List prices as of October 2026.
| Monthly billing | Over 12 months | |
|---|---|---|
| DeepGyre Pro | $20/month | $240 |
| Nansen Pro, billed monthly | $69/month | $828 |
| Nansen Pro, billed annually | $49/month | $588 |
| DeepGyre Gold (adds Developer API) | $70/month | $840 |
At the entry tier, DeepGyre Pro costs under a third of Nansen Pro billed monthly (29%), and about 40% of Nansen billed annually. What the difference buys you depends on which of the categories above you actually use. If label depth is the job, the lower price buys less of it.
The fairest comparison is the one you run on data you already know. A protocol you can follow during DeepGyre's 7-day trial, beside Nansen's free plan:
If DeepGyre does not earn a place in your workflow, the trial ends with no card stored and nothing to cancel.
| You use in Nansen… | In DeepGyre… |
|---|---|
| Wallet Profiler | Wallet profile and entity pages, with fewer labels and each label's source shown |
| Smart Money dashboards | Smart Money by Profit (PnL) and the earliness leaderboard |
| Token God Mode / token flows | Token Lens (deployments, holders) and the scanner (safety) |
| Alerts | Alert rules: 3 on Free, 50 on Pro, unlimited on Gold |
| API | Developer API on Gold (50,000 calls/month), reference |
There is no automatic import of Nansen watchlists. Wallets are added by address.
| If you need… | Choose |
|---|---|
| The deepest wallet attribution | Nansen |
| Profit-based Smart Money across many chains | Nansen |
| A buy/sell test before trading a new token | DeepGyre |
| Numbers whose construction you can audit | DeepGyre |
| A lower entry price | DeepGyre |
| An established vendor for compliance or reporting | Nansen |
| Both | Use Nansen's free plan alongside DeepGyre's trial |
Not across the board. Nansen is stronger on label depth, multi-chain Smart Money history and track record. DeepGyre is stronger on token security testing, published methodology and entry price. The right answer depends on which of those matters to you.
DeepGyre Pro is listed at $20/month. Nansen Pro is listed at $69/month billed monthly or $49/month billed annually (as of October 2026).
No. DeepGyre builds its own rankings from its own Ethereum index — one by profit, measured from each wallet's own swaps, and one by earliness — and states how each is measured on the page.
There is no automatic import. Wallets can be added to a DeepGyre watchlist by address.
Yes. The Developer API is included in the Gold plan ($70/month, 50,000 calls/month). The reference is public at /api-docs.
Each is accurate within what it measures. DeepGyre publishes how every figure is built and names every gap. Nansen covers far more wallets. For a specific metric, compare the construction of each, not the headline.
