What it is

A token unlock is a date on which previously locked supply — team allocation, early-investor vests, ecosystem treasuries — becomes transferable. It matters to a trader for one mechanical reason: the recipients of unlocked tokens are, on average, sitting on very large gains relative to the open-market buyer, so a large unlock is a latent supply decision that arrives on a known date. The calendar on this page lists the next unlocks the platform tracks, each with its scheduled date, its USD value at the current price, and — where the schedule is published — its size relative to the token's circulating supply.

Size relative to float is the number that does the work. A $40M unlock on an asset that trades $2B a day is a rounding error; the same $40M on an asset with $30M of daily liquidity is the single largest seller that will show up that week. That is why the table carries the share of supply beside the dollar figure instead of letting the dollar figure carry the headline alone.

The calendar is a schedule, not a forecast. Vests move, cliff dates get renegotiated, and some recipients never sell. What the calendar gives you is the dates on which the market itself has decided new supply can exist — the rest is flow, not fate.

How to read it

Read the date as the earliest moment the tokens can move, not the moment they will move: many schedules release linearly after a cliff, so the cliff date marks when selling becomes possible.

Read the USD value as size at the current price — the platform prices the schedule at the latest measured price, so a token that fell 40% since the schedule was published shows a smaller unlock than the announcement-era figure you may remember.

Read the share-of-supply column against liquidity, not against fear: a percent of supply only becomes pressure when it is large next to the volume that normally absorbs it.

Data basis

Rows come from the platform's own unlock engine (app/apis/token_unlocks), the same one the Token Unlocks tab renders, cached for about an hour and refreshed on the daily schedule. Each row is the engine's own output — token, date, USD value at the last measured price, share of supply where the schedule publishes one. Where an engine field is missing, the cell prints a dash; nothing is estimated to make the table look complete.

Frequently asked

What is a token unlock?

A scheduled date on which locked tokens — team, investor or treasury allocations — become transferable under a project's vesting contract. The unlock does not sell anything by itself; it makes selling possible.

Do unlocks always push the price down?

No. Studies of past unlocks show dispersion: some are absorbed easily, some coincide with drawdowns. What the history supports is the mechanics — a large unlock relative to daily liquidity is the largest new seller of the week — not a deterministic direction.

Where does DeepGyre's unlock data come from?

From the platform's own unlock engine, which reads each token's published vesting schedule and prices it at the latest measured market price. The same engine feeds the Token Unlocks tab; this page embeds its snapshot.

Why does the USD value differ from what an announcement said?

Because schedules are priced here at the CURRENT price, not the price on the day the schedule was announced. A token that moved since publication changes the unlock's dollar size.

How often does the calendar update?

The engine refreshes on the platform's daily schedule and serves a cached snapshot (about an hour old at most). A schedule change by a project appears on the next refresh after their source updates.
