DeepGyre/Crypto Liquidation Heatmap

Crypto Liquidation Heatmap

Where levered books are actually unwinding — symbol by symbol, side by side, in real time.

Liquidations over the running window

The force-order feed is quiet right now — a silent venue makes any total a floor, never a market total. The live tab shows the running window: open the dashboard.

What it is

A liquidation is a forced closure: the venue closes a levered position because its margin no longer covers the maintenance requirement. Liquidations are the market's largest involuntary sellers and buyers — a long liquidation is a market sell that happens without a decision, a short liquidation a market buy. Concentrated liquidations are why crypto moves in cascades: one cascade's forced flow moves price, which triggers the next band of margin, which forces more flow.

A liquidation 'heatmap' reads that forced flow. DeepGyre's view is built from the venue's own force-order stream: which symbols are being liquidated, on which side, and how large the liquidated notional is over the running window. It is a measurement of unwinds HAPPENING — the platform deliberately does not draw 'predicted liquidation levels' computed from guessed leverage, because nobody can measure another trader's stop from outside the venue.

Read the page beside funding and open interest: those two size and price the standing book; liquidations show it unwinding.

How to read it

Long liquidations dominating = the levered long side is being flushed; the forced flow is selling. Shorts dominating = the reverse.

Concentration matters: one symbol carrying most of the window's liquidations is a single-market event; broad distribution is a market-wide leverage reset.

The window's totals are floors, not market totals — a silent venue makes the number a lower bound, and the page states it.

Data basis

The feed is the venue's own force-order stream (Binance), buffered by the platform's liquidation stream and rendered by the same endpoints the Derivatives tab uses. Totals over longer windows ride the platform's hourly long/short record and ship exactly the fields that record carries — per-symbol detail appears only where it is stored, never padded.

Frequently asked

What is a liquidation?

A forced closure of a levered position by the venue when its margin no longer covers requirements. The position is unwound at market regardless of the holder's intent.

What does a liquidation heatmap show?

Where forced closures are concentrating: which symbols, which side, how much notional over the running window. DeepGyre renders measured liquidations, not predicted levels.

Why doesn't DeepGyre draw 'predicted liquidation levels'?

Because they cannot be measured: another trader's leverage and stop are not visible outside the venue. Levels drawn from guessed leverage would be invented precision — the platform does not publish those.

Are the totals the whole market?

No. They are the stream the platform receives, from the venue it reads. A silent venue makes any total a floor; the page states the basis beside the number.

What usually follows heavy liquidations?

Historically, the cascade itself is the event: forced flow moves price, which triggers the next margin band. The unwind's end is usually visible as the cascade's flow drying up, not as a forecastable level.
