BlockShield/Metrics/Stablecoin Net Flows

Stablecoin Net Flows

Net mint minus redemption across the stablecoin supply, folded from one daily series. Incomplete periods are drawn hatched and excluded from every streak.

What it measures

The change in total stablecoin supply over a period — net issuance minus net redemption. It is the closest free proxy there is for dollars entering or leaving crypto itself.

It is a supply DELTA, not an observed transfer. Nobody watched the money arrive, and the payload's basis line says so, because the word 'inflow' invites exactly that reading.

How it is built

A period that has not ended is not evidence, in either direction. This is the whole module. A widely shared claim of three consecutive negative months measured as two on the very source it cited, with the running month positive and two weeks old.

Every bucket therefore carries whether it is complete, how many days it covers, and how many days the period holds. Streaks skip incomplete periods both ways, and the chart draws the running period hatched with the reason beside it.

A streak is computed, never quoted. The engine walks the whole daily record and names the precedent run it found, so 'the first since' carries a date it discovered rather than a year hard-coded into copy that silently expires.

Five granularities — daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly — are folds of ONE cached daily series, so they cannot disagree with each other. The first period of any fold has no prior close and publishes a null flow rather than a zero, because drawing it at zero invents a flat period at the start of the record.

The series is cached whole and folded per request. Caching the downsampled view would let the first caller's resolution pin everyone else's.

A period the provider did not cover is excluded rather than folded in at zero — but excluding it is only half the job, so any bucket whose flow reaches back across missing days is marked as carrying more than its own period.

What to watch

The movers list publishes its own floor. A 40% move on a few million dollars is not news beside a fraction of a percent on a hundred and eighty billion, and both are real.

Net is not gross. A large mint event can coincide with a small net delta because it is treasury inventory; mint alerts on this platform carry the day's net context for exactly that reason.

Supply growth is not the same as demand for risk. Stablecoins are minted for reasons that never reach a market.
